The responsibilities of the Marketing & Communications Director at FSSC include overall MarCom strategic planning and driving of continual improvement to contribute to the position, awareness and reputation of Foundation FSSC as the leading brand Certification Scheme Owner.
Leadership
Member of the FSSC Management Team that as a collective is responsible for executing the corporate strategy and achieving the corporate objectives, and that reports to the Executive Board.
You will report to the CMO, Chief Market Officer.
This position requires a candidate with a blend of leadership, strategy, digital marketing, content creation, and corporate communications expertise.

Key result areas
Strategy and Management
- Develop and maintain the FSSC Marketing & Communication strategy aligned with the Foundation’s corporate strategy, for the Foundation and its Value Propositions.
- Translate the corporate strategy into annual MarCom objectives and the annual MarCom plan.
- Brand Governance: Brand Identity, Brand Positioning, Brand Guidelines, Brand Reputation, Brand Research.
- Responsible for the Marketing & Communications department’s overall management including staff, presently a team of 9, and collaboration with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Setting and deployment of key initiatives, risk analysis and contingency planning for the department.
- Ensure effective and pro-active resource and knowledge management.
Operational
- Oversee the development and implementation of all marketing and communication activities and related KPIs.
- Collaborate with the Market Development department to ensure optimized localized outreach to global markets, with the objective to boost awareness and demand generation and to maximize customer loyalty.
- Ensure alignment with all other FSSC departments.
- Oversee brand performance through media monitoring and driving stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure the creation of high-quality content and consistent messaging across all channels, including consistent visual and verbal identity.
- Lead campaigns to promote FSSC’s Schemes and initiatives.
- Actively engage with media, external thought leaders, Certification Bodies and Accreditation Bodies and other strategic partners.
- Embed artificial intelligence practices into MarCom’s way of working, without compromising FSSC’s privacy & security policies.
Knowledge, skills & expereince
- MSc. in marketing or similar.
- Senior-level experience in management, marketing, and communications in an international environment, preferably in the professional service industry and ideally within the food and/or certification industry.
- Ability to implement business strategy through strategic MarCom plans.
- Ability to demonstrate impact on business results, organization and complex (innovative) projects.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Intercultural awareness and sensitivity.
- High proficiency level in English; additional languages are valuable.
- Solid knowledge of or interest in the world of auditing and certification related to food safety and/or social sustainability is a big plus.

- The indicative salary range for this position of Marketing and Communications Director is € 83,962 - €119,946. The final salary will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
