Technical Application Manager @Van Oord

Van Oord is a Dutch family business with more than 150 years of experience as an international Marine contractor. The focus is on dredging and hydraulic engineering, offshore wind, offshore infrastructure and land infrastructure. The head office is in Rotterdam. Van Oord has approximately 4,700 employees who are presently working on 187 projects in 35 countries with 3 permanent offices, dozens of project offices worldwide and with a fleet of more than 70 ships.
We are looking for a Technical Application Manager to manage and develop the often critical application landscape worldwide.

As a Technical Application Manager you work in a team with 6 colleagues. You manage, develop and test business-critical applications. You work closely with the Functional Application Managers and other IT Engineers within the Digital Technology team.

Your main tasks will be:

• Carrying out both planned as well as proactive 3rd line management tasks for multiple systems within an international and often complex IT environment
• Incident handling and problem diagnosis; dealing with disruptions, analyzing and solving problems
• Participate in large IT development and change projects
• Ensure that the systems meet the guidelines and requirements of IT Security and (external) Audits;
• Maintain contact with users worldwide
• Maintain contact with IT suppliers
• Deliver technical designs and documentation

• Bachelor's degree in IT or Business Administration or relevant work experience
• Relevant work experience within a complex and preferably international environment
• Knowledge of Windows OS, web hosting, databases (MS SQL, Oracle), Citrix, IT networks and security related solutions such as firewalls and encryption technologies;
• Knowledge and experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) and Cloud computing technologies is an advantage;
• Experience with documenting instructions, workflows (Visio), standard operating procedures (SOPs), manuals, etc.;
• Critical thinker, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, driven for a practical result;
• Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
