ICT Career´s customer in this job procedure is Laureate Online Education (www.uol.ohecampus.com), a company that acts as the e-learning partner of the University of Liverpool and provides 100% online Academic education. The online Master Programmes are highly valued and lead to internationally recognized academic degrees. Today, more than 45.000 students living in more than 120 countries are studying at one of the online programmes. In The Netherlands, there are 2500 students on the programmes that are delivered in Amsterdam.
The Laureate Online Education office in Amsterdam has about 140 employees and expects to grow this year to 200 employees. It is from this office that the worldwide Student Information System is developed, maintained and hosted. The IT Department consists of the IT Manager, 2 Network / System Administrators and 5 Software Developers. As exclusive partner for Laureate Online in this procedure, ICT Career is now searching for a third System Administrator. |

As a System Administrator at Laureate you will be working in a dynamic and international environment, with colleagues from more than 30 different nationalities. Depending on your skills and ambitions, Laureate offers and facilitates courses and education for personal development. The System Administrator is responsible for taking care of the daily maintenance of Laureate's network, of giving end user support to all Laureate's employees, and of continual searching for improvements to Laureate's IT environment. The key responsibilities are the following:
· Daily maintenance of the IT environment, including approximately 30 servers and 140 workstations (daily backups, security maintenance, problem solving, monitoring, etc.).
· Proactively searching for improvements to Laureate´s IT infrastructure and technologies.
· Optimizing efficiency of maintenance tasks by increasing automation.
· Installation, testing and administration of hardware, software and IT supplies.
· Monitoring user compliance with IT policies and train new employees in proper system usage.
· In addition, the System Administrator will be involved in challenging international projects, which are initiated from Laureate Headquarters in Baltimore (USA). |

· 2 - 3 years experience in a professional IT environment.
· Good working knowledge and experience with the Microsoft Architecture, specifically Windows 2000&2003 Servers, Windows XP workstations, Microsoft Exchange 2003, and Microsoft Office 2003.
· Ongoing knowledge of new technologies.
· Good knowledge of TCP/IP Networks, network components and security techniques.
· MSCE and/or CCNA certificated is an advantage.
· Linux and/or Cisco knowledge is an advantage.
· Proactive, independent and mature.
· Good analytical and problem solving skills.
· Used to working with deadlines.
· Fluent in English (spoken and written).
· Willing to do evening / weekend work if required. |
